Comentários: It is easy to keep track of attorney time, things happening with each individual file, and client bills.

Vantagens:

Each attorney can have their own form of the software and enter their specific entries. You can see all client bills from the past and present. There is an easy screen which shows each client's balance, last bill cycle, last payment, their address, phone number, and how much interest they are accruing. It is easy to enter your time entries and generate client bills. You can also generate all client's who haven't paid, last time they've paid, how much they owe now, and past due balances. You can also enter "notes" with each individual client to keep track of their payments and cards, etc.

Desvantagens:

There are a lot of different functions in the software that I don't know how to use or what their purpose is. The office manager has a lot more control over the program so employees can only access certain things. The items I can access were difficult to learn since the buttons are spread out. Some functions that I use left often are harder to remember where they are located. My least favorite thing about the program is that it is very slow and constantly freezes. I have to then wait several minutes to use anything else on the computer, or I have to manually exit the program a few times before it will work after freezing.

Meets My Needs, But Frequently Wonky

Comentários: While certainly not perfect, it remains better than the competition and meets my needs- frustrates me, but I'm still going to be buying the software.

Vantagens:

Easy to use, good layout, and intuitive.

Desvantagens:

The program gets wonky pretty often- it doesn't always like anti-virus software, tech support is god-awful, cost keeps going up, and even calling tech support, they haven't been able to eliminate locked screens/info. Also, when you print a History Bill for court to submit to judges, it prints out titled as "Adjustment Note" in large bold lettering, so trying to explain that it is actually a History Bill to a judge unfamiliar with TimeSlips goes nowhere and they are very reluctant to accept it!!!

Down The Rabbit Hole

Comentários: It is more flexible than the software we were using. Otherwise it is archaic, convoluted, ill designed, inflexible and inelegant software to be avoided if at all possible.

Vantagens:

It's breadth of functionality....which would be fine if all that functionality were useable.

Desvantagens:

There is very little I do not dislike. The software makes my life immeasurably harder. It is confusing to setup. The screens are hard to read, and badly laid out. The ability to change something if you discover it did not do what you thought it would is sometimes non-existent and if it exists, arcane to discover and use. The number of potential steps in the billing process is ludicrous, and each step has its own set of rules and strictures. The help screens are ludicrous, rarely address a common problem and meaningful customer service virtually non-existent. The software offers few chances to simply eliminate things that are unwanted. I don't need two nicknames for every person, task, activity, etc. In fact, I don't need any. Why not simply offer a screen that says, do you want to use nicknames, and if the user says no...eliminate them. One would normally think you would want the time slip you open to default to today, without having to make a choice, and give you a choice to change to a different date, but no...One would think that if you wanted to round to the nearest x minutes you could make that choice as a default, and change to something different on as needed basis... I have rarely used a software program that leaves me as apoplectic and heightens my blood pressure as much as this one. There are numerous much more usable programs on the market, and had I been asked before purchase, I would have chosen one of them.

Served its Purpose Well

Comentários: My overall experience with Timeslips was positive. It was a little expensive, but not in comparison to other billing software programs out there. It was relatively easy to use, and we produced attractive and accurate bills for clients. It was only when my firm structure changed that Timeslips could not accommodate us for a reasonable price.

Vantagens:

I found Timeslips to be relatively user friendly. I used it when I was in a partnership with another attorney, and our monthly billing seemed to run smoothly. I had come from another firm that used Tabs, and I found that Timeslips was less complicated overall to use.

Desvantagens:

We had some problems with Timeslips after closing our office and changing to remote only offices. We had been using it on a server, and when we tried to change that, it caused a lot of errors and we lost a lot of time trying to make it work. Ultimately, one partner stuck with Timeslips on his system, and I went to another cheaper software product instead of purchasing a second instance of Timeslips. It was frustrating that I had to start from scratch with all client data in the new system, but I don't really fault Timeslips because it certainly worked as needed when we purchased it for our server in the office.

Need a dedicated support/service team of phone line.

Comentários: I've used Sage Timeslips both as an employee (for 9 years) and now as a business owner. As a user, it was an excellent tool. As a business owner, setup is cumbersome and initial support is lacking.

Vantagens:

Leadership utilizes the time tracking feature as part of our overall analysis for project efficiency. It gives our staff some insight into how their time is spent and where we as an organization can make improvements to process. It's invaluable.

Desvantagens:

Invoice template editing/creation is cumbersome. It would be very helpful to have access to templates or better how-to manuals. We have had a very difficult time with getting assistance over the phone for some of the billing/invoicing features which results in our spending an inordinate amount of time on the setup process.

Remote billing key

Comentários: We are satisfied with the product. Customer support is generally good.

Vantagens:

I most like that I can use the easier e-Center whether in the office or out. I can save my favorites and not be bogged down with other attorneys' clients.

Desvantagens:

Wish e-Center allowed input of numbers in client and L/A Code sections rather than drop downs. I sometimes select the wrong designation while scrolling and do not catch it until later review. It takes time to figure out corrections.

Time Slips

Comentários: Timeslips makes our monthly billing an easier process. Since our last upgrade, the new features are great.

Vantagens:

Being able to jump from client to client to enter charges is a great function. Duplicating the charge for similar charges from client to client or even multiple charges for the same client that are similar. Easily modifiable.

Desvantagens:

When trying to click on a task, if you have typo, it does not allow you to re-key the letter to drop down elsewhere in the menu.

Timeslips Review

Comentários: Overall, Timeslips is the only program we have used at our law firm but I do wish customer support was better and that it was more user friendly.

Vantagens:

I appreciate that Timeslips has client history and that we can view previous bills with ease and without having to print them out again. I also like that there are numerous reports that can be run but there are so many options that you can get lost in the process. We have also used the abbreviations and have found them to help get more slips entered faster.

Desvantagens:

There are a few things that I have been underwhelmed with. For one, depending on version you are limited to customer support options. Knowing that our version only allows for 3 chats under our subscription, I have had to save questions for months to ask when you finally do get someone to respond to you. If you are willing to do a live chat for hours before you can get someone on the phone, then I guess this would work well for you. I will say, once I finally got a representative to remote into our Timeslips, it was Extremely helpful to explain numerous issues with someone seeing your problem on the screen. I was able to get most of the questions I had to reserve answered. Even though I had support on with me they could not understand why Data Verification would not work to resolve client balances, I was told that an upgrade effected that in the program and it hasn't been fixed yet. How will we know when it is fixed? Another thing that absolutely drives me crazy is the NUMEROUS clicks and messages that pop up just to get one invoice printed and sent to LEDES. We are also having issues trying to close client accounts without going back through each and every invoice and AR transaction to find the solution.

Ok but not user friendly for Lawyers

Comentários: Acceptable but unless you are an accountant, it was difficult to understand all of its functionality.

Vantagens:

Tracked time and expenses great and integration with Outlook was pretty seamless.

Desvantagens:

Useful reports were difficult to obtain and inability to modify come records created isues

Outdated - Not the best customer service

Comentários: Overall, the new firm that I am with does not use this program and I am so happy for that. It CAN and WILL get the job done for you, but there are a ton of other programs out there that can get you more bang for your buck in my opinion.

Vantagens:

Very basic and easy to navigate for the most part. It was easy to teach other employees how to learn the system because it was very cut and dry.

Desvantagens:

It is outdated and needs a lot of work. The functions that it has can be updated and improved to make it better. It seemed like certain features you'd have to click 10 steps to get to something that could easily be in a drop-down menu. It just isn't the greatest layout and way to use a program. Also - the customer service is only there for you if you buy a very expensive addition to your software package. So, even if you have a basic question they wont help you, and there are little to no helpful posts online if you try to Google a problem you have because I don't think a ton of people use the program.

While easy to enter time with Timeslips, it is far too buggy. Go with another program.

Comentários: Well...it does track my time and gets bills out, but not without a large amount of aggravation.

Vantagens:

Easy to enter data into Timeslips. It is full featured if you can figure out the features. You'll like the program at first - until it starts giving you problems - and it will.

Desvantagens:

Horrifically bad support. It's a buggy program with frequent problems. There is a general rule with software - if they charge for support, it means it's buggy and a frequent problem. Timeslips is no exception. You rarely get through. Instead they take your phone number promising to call back. But they will only call back once, so you might find yourself on a merry go round trying to connect. Database is frequently corrupted requiring verification and repairs although the transition to the Firebird database seems to have helped. I started using Timeslips years ago and the only reason to continue is that of the fear that my data cannot be accurately transferred to a decent program. Most recent problem is poor compatibility with Outlook 2016. Whenever Outlook is open, text entry into the description field of a timeslip lags badly. While there are a lot of reports, figuring out which report and how to get the info you want can be challenging. You can modify layouts for bills, etc., but the user interface for doing so is from the dark ages.

Comentários: Since upgrading my windows to 11 - nothing good about this program. It uninstalled when I upgraded to windows 11. It forced me to buy a new version - pay annually and many of the features I used for billing are gone. I keep having to upgrade. Support always says' that option is not available with your version"

Loved the program until your new billing system. Now you have to pay annually and most functions that you had prior are only available with the most expensive tier. Ive upgraded my tier once (additional $450) for one feature, and now need to upgrade yet again for the same billing function I had before. Nickle and diming your customers only serves to annoy and is leaving wanting me to find a new program after 25 years of being a loyal customer

Timeslips Review

Comentários: I use [sensitive content hidden] as my consultant and she is a life saver. She is quick, knowledgeable and able to explain and fix just about everything. It's been a very bright spot in using Timeslips.

Vantagens:

I like the client portal, the ease of time entry and elements of billing.

Desvantagens:

I would like a better A/R listing as we use client number AND name and only client number shows up on A/R meaning I have to match before working on A/R. Some of our clients have hundreds of subclients and while we can work with the numbers list, it would be good to have name attached on report.

Legal Office Timeslips Review

Comentários: Lately I have not had problems. The program goes nuts every so often. But we just close and reopen. I liked it better when we did have problems were able to talk to someone right then. Now we have to wait for a call that we do not know when it will occur and ofter it is missed.

Vantagens:

I have used Timeslips since 1992 or 1993. So after 30 years I have it down.

Desvantagens:

Timeslips needs to advance into the Cloud. Timeslips is the ONLY thing we have on our server. EVERYTHING else is in the Cloud. You need to devote the time, energy and money to stay cutting edge or you will lose your customores.

Adequate

I am used to how it works for my business purposes.

Desvantagens:

The yearly cost is expensive given the value provided by the software.

Ease of Sage Timeslips

Comentários: I have worked in various other time accounting software over my 38 years at the law firm. This is by far the most efficient system and was very easy to transition to from other platforms. The HELP function is quasi-helpful - you just have to know the exact terms to find the right answers to your questions.

Vantagens:

It is easy to use and menu driven. Tips for using the systems are available and informative.

Desvantagens:

Can't find where to change initial set up information like default preference for billing layouts. Changes of firm ownership result in changes to previous owner's wishes for the look of billing.

Comentários: Again only program I have used; can't compare; I do wish it was more user friendly.

Vantagens:

Its the only program I have ever used so I don't know.

Desvantagens:

Changing the layout of the bill.Being able to delete a client instead of putting into inactive or closedSetting up an account as flat fee it always adds the client's deposit each month. If told during the matter that it is flat fee I have to retype the entire client entries all over and close the first account. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM!

Complex, Costly, but does the job effectively

Comentários: We have been with Sage Timeslips for so long (over 15 years), it would be difficult to go to another provider.

Vantagens:

Provides a lot of options for servicing clients. Provided detailed accounting history.

Desvantagens:

I find it cumbersome to use. The billing procedure is complicated and not intuitive. Compared to competition, it seems very costly.

Law Office Use

Comentários: This allows for detailed tracking of our billing and analysis of the information.

Vantagens:

A robust system that allows for a wide variety of information tracking. You just have to spend the time learning what information can be gleaned and how.

Desvantagens:

The system can be overwhelming to learn given all of the features. One desktop cannot use the system during the regular business day because, when that system is using the software on our network, it crashed the entire network and Sage has not figured out the problem.

Expensive

Vantagens:

In a CPA firm tracking time spent preparing and working on multiple jobs within one client by multiple professionals is beneficial to track costs and how to bill clients.

Desvantagens:

When our company began using TimeSlips the fee was a reasonable flat annual fee. When Timeslips started charging per user the fee is extremely high. Since we had been using the product for many years our database is large to convert to another timekeeping program. We are looking for a better cost effective program now.

Good product with poor support

Comentários: I have been using Timeslips for 23 years and always liked it. Support used to be good. Now support is practically nonexistent. You can’t speak with a live person over the phone until you jump through dozens of hoops. Currently looking into something else to replace Timeslips due to their support only.

Vantagens:

Easy to use and understand. Good time tracking, easy invoicing and good reports.

Desvantagens:

Creating custom reports. Customer support is horrible. You can no longer call into support. Everything is done through chat which is not productive.

Sage - A tool for time and billing

Comentários: Sage Timeslips enables me to record time daily and in moments to create a bill to send to the client through email. In essence the software eliminates the need for paper, postage and labor.

Vantagens:

Sage Timeslips permits an attorney to record real time hours during the course of a work day and enables an attorney to capture all billable time for invoicing to each client at appropriate intervals selected by the attorney

Desvantagens:

The software limits the number of characters used to identify clients

Sage Timeslips Review

Comentários: It's been easy, but I know there are other features I could be using and don't know how. Would like to see how I can get an overall tutorial to enhance my usage. Also, our clients have a hard time reading the overall invoice and knowing if they owe or don't owe. Need additional assistance in wrapping up the end of the layout of the invoice.

Vantagens:

All clients set up in ONE data base for easy access

Desvantagens:

The set up and finding help in the moment when most needed and the hold time.
