Great Form of Daily Communication

Comentários: Our overall experience with Brightwheel was great! It's easy to setup and use and is great for daily communication from the teacher.

Vantagens:

It is a great hub for all communication from your child's teacher. The teacher can send reminders, updates, and even photos from the day. You can easily view and download the photos onto your own device as well!

Desvantagens:

Digitally signing your child in and out works well, however, you are given a four digit code that you have to remember after scanning the QR code. This code doesn't change, however, for a parent who doesn't do the primary drop offs and pickups, I found myself struggling to remember the code at times.

Brightwheel is a Must for childcare facilities.

Comentários: I started using Brightwheel 3 months before we enrolled our first students. Giving myself time to set up and implement how I wanted our center to operate was so helpful and the support team was there for me, guiding me along the way. They have never disappointed me and if the software had a foreseen limitation to its use, they would offer suggestions for a work around solution. You can't get better support than that when you're in the middle of problem solving issues.

Vantagens:

The billing feature. Auto pay, Billing plans, Reports, and Library of charges. All these features are built in to keep up with invoices and charges that need applied and change from week to week.

Desvantagens:

The schedule feature is difficult to keep up with as we offer drop in, part time and full time care. It just doesnt give the flexibility we need to schedule our students and staff. We need more of a click and drop feature.

I don't like that They update it at certain times mid-year which makes it very difficult for care providers to try and learn. Although I'm grateful for the updates. Hope there is an option to print portfolio now! It's also a bit difficult to be able to know which features are used from tablet, phone or desktop that can be kind of cumbersome

I like that is takes out payments automatically without me having to manually do it each time a payment is due. I like how can view messages from the teachers & see what my daughter is doing at school through out the day.

Easy Image Sharing

Vantagens:

The picture feature is fantastic for parents wanting to stay updated on their child from home/work. There is space to leave a caption, which helps to give a context to the images.

Desvantagens:

Larger blocks of texts, such as announcements, are not as easily supported in the app. They must be formatted as images and then shared.

Amazing!

Comentários: The customer service is amazing! We are extremely pleased with how easy they made the switch from our old system. Every time we've had a question we have received a more than helpful response from their support staff. My employees love it and our parents love it.

Vantagens:

The Brightwheel app enables our employees to easily communicate with parents anytime of day or night and keeps them from giving out their personal phone numbers. The system is very user friendly and has easy to follow instructions and prompts.

Desvantagens:

The reporting from a financial side is not very clear if you are coming from another system with a lot of information in reports. Inputting immunizations could be a little quicker like putting a date and selecting the immunizations that were given on the date would be great.

Comentários: Overall Brightwheel has improved on communication, maintaining important documents, and ease of pulling reports for funding streams.

Vantagens:

Brightwheel has helped improve daily communication from home to program. Families seem to engage/communicate more to us via messaging feature. Directors/Managers and Families are able to view in real time what activites are happening in the rooms, which not only provides the families informtion on thier child but managers are able to utilize this feature in a staff evaluation. Win Win

Desvantagens:

The ability to upload fillable forms for familes to complete via the app. The families we work with do not have access to computer, they use thier smart phone as thier main computer, and when we have to have them update a form, we still have to do this by asking them to complete and turn back in, which is a struggle since most of them loose the document and/or do not have time to stop and fill out onsite. Love to see the ablity for staff/admin to upload our fillable forms verses a read only document. I am aware that we can customize documents in Brightwheel, however we have a short book for intake paperwork.

It's amazing!!!

Comentários: I use brightwheel for billing and receiving payments, sending statements, attendance recording and tracking, ratio tracking, daily communicating with parents, sending alerts and important notifications and last but not least, check-in and check-out recording. I'm sure there are details I am not thinking of right now. The best I can say is, I use brightwheel for everything!

Vantagens:

It's very easy to use, very user friendly and has so many helpful features. It really is a one stop shop because of everything it offers. I don't have to use other programs for various reports or tracking and even billing. It has brought peace to office chaos and helps parents with convenience and peace of mind.

Desvantagens:

There are always new things that a center looks for to help processes become more efficient or comprehensive. So yes, there are things that can still be integrated in brightwheel, but they are always open to suggestions and feedback. As soon as ideas come up, they put things into play. Keep in mind, all things take time.

Brightwheel Became Our Bright Spot!

Comentários: Brightwheel has helped me simplify many aspects of my job. Messages to teachers and staff go in real time. No more running all over the school looking for people. Parents love the app because the get daily communication about their child as the day progresses. During this pandemic, grandparents are being added so they can see daily pictures of their grandchildren. It works well with our school community.

Vantagens:

I love the fact that the one program takes care of communications with faculty and parents, billing and payments, and student information. All of it quickly accessible by computer or cell phone. Customer service is attentive and thorough.

Desvantagens:

There are some areas where improvement is necessary. Sometimes when you export information, you may need to tweaking the organization of the information to look the way you want it. The thing is, they invite you to share what you believe needs to improve. In the short 7 months of using this software, and they have made significant updates many of these aspects.

Brightwheel changed the way I do preschool!

Comentários: Benefits are many. Communication with families is #1. Easy of online payments and automatic notifications of upcoming invoices is great. Love the lesson plans part of it too.

Vantagens:

Easy to use! Support is awesome and quick. Made my preschool WAY more efficient and saves me as Director a LOT of time. Parents love the connection between home and school.

Desvantagens:

I don't use the medical part of adding immunizations? We still keep a paper copy in the student's actual file. It would be nice if it could be "scanned" or uploaded?

Great resource for all early childhood programs

Comentários: Brightwheel has been a huge asset for our company. It has allowed the admin team to be in the classroom more and less on the computer doing paperwork. The continual growth of the product and added features has convinced us to use the prodcut year after year.

Vantagens:

Brightwheel is easy to set up and easy to use. Not only does it save time, it offers wonderful tools to expand and grow your childcare business.

Desvantagens:

There are too many departments/people to talk to when trying to get support. It would be nice to have one person assigned to our account that could help navigate questions.

Perspective from a Teacher who is also a Parent using Brightwheel

Comentários: Overall, I like the app. It is helpful during the day and once you get the hang of it, really easy to navigate and update, although it can be a bit time consuming. When I have emailed customer service they have emailed me back in a polite and timely manner, which is always a plus. This is my third school year using the app, and have yet to hear a negative comment from any of my student's families. All have had rave reviews, shared it with family members, and are constantly thanking me for sharing things with them throughout the day.

Vantagens:

As a teacher, I like the convenience of being able to get in contact with the parents of my students quickly and effectively. I am able to keep track of attendance and absences easily, it also helps with parents who need to monitor their child's eating. As a parent, I like receiving updates about my child, especially pictures. When it is kept up by my child's teacher, it is a great app because I can see what is going on during his day even though I am not with him.

Desvantagens:

One of my biggest frustrations is that I have to COMPLETELY log out and log back in when switching from my teacher account and my parent account, at the same school. My son goes to the school that I work at but is in a different class. It would be so much easier if there was a way to toggle back and forth between the two. My other major concern is, though we have the app on our school chromebooks and it's great, I cannot upload pictures from the computer to the app to share them with parents. So, instead of keeping the app on my cellphone logged in to my child's account, I have to log out and then in to my teacher account to be able to share pictures of my students with their families. It is really frustrating. The parents of the children in my class are constantly giving me positive feedback about the app and love getting the pictures and videos, but it is difficult for me since I want to share the pictures with them but I can't do it all from the chromebook unless I try using the poor-quality webcam. It would be much more of a positive experience for me if I was able to use a classroom camera, upload the pictures to a computer, then be able to upload the pictures to the app for the families. I am sure that for someone who has a designated work cellphone or maybe even a tablet with a decent camera, this would not even be an issue, but for someone who has to use a personal cellphone to take and upload pictures to the app, is a bit of a downfall.

True customer service.

Comentários: Our experience with Brightwheel has been the best. Customer service is top notch. Outside of the program they offer trainings, resources, and tips and tricks to name a few.

Vantagens:

I love so many things about brightwheel. I love that I can share anecdotal records and photos with families, I can create a space to share photos with staff, and the ease of use of the app and online website. I am a big fan of Brightwheel and tell everyone about it. During the pandemic Brightwheel stood by us and even offered trainings for our staff at no cost when other similar companies we worked with would not work with us or gave us ultimatums. I will forever promote Brightwheel to others in the field and cannot thank them enough.

Desvantagens:

There isn't really anything I don't like about Brightwheel. I notice that when I message staff together and they respond, staff can't see each other's message. I know this is a privacy concern but wonder if you can have a setting for this like "all staff" or individual staff. It's not a deal breaker. Many of the things I use to have issues with, they fixed them.

One of the best we’ve used

Comentários: Overall, the app has been a wonderful addition to the way I interact with my child’s daycare provider. Prior to brightwheel, we used two different services. Those did not have as many features as brightwheel and often times were down due to technical issues. Brightwheel is always available is an easy to use application.

Vantagens:

Brightwheel is an easy to use app with all the functions necessary. It allows you to see daily updates on your child to include both video and photos. It allows for a secure place to communicate with your child’s providers and keep informed with things outside of the normal daily updates. Being allowed to also send payments through the app is highly beneficial. Having everything in one app makes things so much easier.

Desvantagens:

There isn’t much to dislike about the app. One slightly frustrating feature is the reminder emails regarding autopay. There was a time where I intentionally did not want to use auto pay. The app then would send DAILY notifications prompting me to sign up for autopay which was slightly frustrating.

The best app for schools, day cares, etc.

Comentários: It makes managing student attendance and communication with parents much easier.

Vantagens:

This is one of the best, if not the very best, solutions to make my life easier managing my school. We started using this app just in our after school program and soon adopted the check-in/out system for our entire attendance tracking solution. We are able to run reports to see who, when, and where someone was checked in for any given day in our school year. All of my suggestions have been heard and considered and almost all (if not all) have eventually been added. I love how well they receive feedback and how they want to serve institutions of all sizes. Having been a long time user since their infancy, I have had the opportunity to talk to many people with the company and they are all wonderful. I wish more companies were like them.

Desvantagens:

I feel like the free version is quite limited. It used to have many more features and I sang its praises to everyone. Now I have to start the conversation by discussing the financial part of the system, which limits some potential users. I wish it integrated with student information systems so that I didn't have to export and prepare csv to upload to create students. It would be much simpler to have an automated sync each night to create or remove students based on our current student system, Renweb. I'm beginning to realize that part of this is due to their growing attempt to take over the educational information realm, but they are not there yet.

Was a GREAT Program until billing "Upgrade"

Comentários: WONDERFUL...until Billing changes that took a child's at-a-glance and all-inclusive account and broke it into several links within their account making it very convoluted.

Vantagens:

Brightwheel works so very well to seamlessly bring together students, families, and staff. It works great for attendance, communication between staff and families.

Desvantagens:

Brightwheel had a wonderful billing system until the recent upgrade. The ability to look into a child's account and be able to see and comprehend a paper trail of billing, credits, adjustments, and refunds. However; with the new billing platform this is a luxury of the past. Now it is nearly impossible to decode what has happened in a child's account if there is anything out of the ordinary such as credits, adjustments or refunds. You simply can't see them without some major digging, drilling-down and then research as it kind of "wipes away" the electronic paper-trail in a sense and makes it difficult to get to the bottom of transaction flow in an account.

Mixed Feelings

Comentários: We are generally receiving our payments on time more. BrightWheel has caused new frustrations but relieved others. We like the parent communication aspect. The customer service of BrightWheel is getting better; however, I usually only get an answer after asking multiple people the same question and finally I will get a correct answer. They love their standard boilerplate responses which if I needed would have gotten from the library. The overall feeling of “we are only here to make the parent experience better” versus making the centers business operations better is frustrating. In the end, the center will get what we need and with BrightWheel a lot of times it causes inconvenience to the parents. Example, when a new child starts under the parents, they have to re-link to AutoPay. The parents can’t figure it out because of it shows they are linked with one student so we have to add their bill to their older student who doesn’t come anymore in order to get their autopay to work. That is not friendly experience for us or the parent. BrightWheel still needs a lot of work to get it to a product that is time-saving and beneficial for centers to use.

Vantagens:

We love the AutoPay feature and the ability for our parents to get their invoices 24/7.

Desvantagens:

There isn’t a way to record credit, and when a payment fails without attempting to go through it doesn’t send an email to the parents or us. Also, when a payment fails it doesn’t give us an opportunity to recharge. Many parents will ask us to retry and we can’t without creating a new invoice. Also, on the Plan section, it doesn’t allow you to make changes to the days the invoice gets charged, or a new end date, etc. This means we are constantly canceling the plan and creating a new one.

Awesome app for our preschool and daycare!!!

Comentários: Sometimes when trying to set up new families, the ap (on the parent's end) will ask for a code; identifying which school. I was never given/provided with a code, so sometimes I have to delete the child and start over to see if the parent is able to obtain the 4-digit code.

Vantagens:

We can do everything with this app. It's great! Parents can sign their child in/out, which is perfect for state regulations. Parents can see what their child is up to throughout the day by way of 30 second videos, pictures, messages, notes, meals served and quantity of food each child ate, incident reports, medications administered and bathroom breaks. There is also a custom icon, and if you are a staff member of a facility with multiple rooms, you can move the children from one room to another, so parents and staff know where their child is at at all times. There is a calendar, observation section and you can even do billing! I couldn't imagine NOT using Brightwheel. It is so quick, easy and comprehensive. Each child is separate and each profile affords space for all pertinent information, including doctor/dentist information, address, parent contact, emergency contacts, allergies, medications, and DOB. It is very inexpensive an parents are able to know what their child did, rather than trying to ask the busy staff or ask their child. Multiple members can be added to a profile and all receive a 4-digit code for signing their child in/out of care. I would recommend it a million times over! Awesome Ap!

Desvantagens:

Wish the videos could be longer and you had the option to crop/edit the pictures and video length.

Too complicated and detailed for a daycare use

Comentários: When I compare the home section of Brightwheel with similar software Tadpoles, it looks too complicated and detailed for everyday use. Generally, as a parent I am mostly interested in photos and videos of my kid and maybe a short description of her day. I do not need to see all the details like food, naps, potty as separate sections. I can imagine how much time it takes for teachers to fill out all the information for each kid.

Vantagens:

I like that the application allows to set up payments of tuitions. Moreover, you can set up autopayments and should never worry about it again. The section of payment is generally done well: I did not have any issues connecting my bank accounts to the application, I have the whole history of payments in my account, I see pending status and so on. But this is probably only thing that I like in Brightwheel.

Desvantagens:

Unfortunately, there are some issues with the Payments section. The link "Print Invoice" does not work for me, so a daycare had to send me the invoice via email. One day (when I did not have autopayments set up) I stopped receiving notifications from Brightwheel about new invoices. As result, I was late to pay and our daycare charged me a late payment fee. Since the time I never received any notifications from Brightwheel again. I set up the autopayments with Brightwheel but honestly now I am scared to trust it again, so I prefer to pay before a deadline myself, I use my apple calendar to send me notifications every month.
