Vantagens:

1. Software helps to link all the platform available i.e ERP, CFD, SAP system 2. Mode FRONTIER is another that helps to do costing for various parameters thereby helping in achieving the best optimize cost for the required parameter 3. Target Costing/ Value Tracking report helps in the New Product Development 4. Cost Insight design/reporting is another positivity for aPriori which helps to visualize for the business meeting and cost outlier analysis etc..

Desvantagens:

Required good server for the Speed in the costing the parts but aPriori has solution where they are bringing in the Web-Based Costing in near future

It is a One Size Fits All tool for Product Lifecycle

Comentários: A great experience working in aPriori and dealing with aPriori support team who is always ready to help and support on all issues. Personally like their professional approach to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

Vantagens:

aPriori gives a wide range of options in costing and analysis that is most suitable for all stakeholders during a product development or product improvement lifecycle. It is a great tool in hands of engineers to evaluate early impacts of Cost and also helps understands manufacturing limitations and design rule violations through Design to Cost feedback. Also a great tool to understand alternate design or alternate manufacturing evaluations. It is an essential tool in hands of cost engineers to understand and quickly simulate different scenarios of cost in various regions and various parameters. A great tool for Purchasing to understand the details of cost breakdown and negotiate with suppliers on arguable parameters. aPriori also provides Business Intelligence tool with Cost Insight Reporting that is very much helpful for Project Managers to keep track of the project status and cost targets. Overall, aPriori would be a great tool for any industry that is looking to excel in industry with right evaluated approach and good understanding of Cost of the product. Thank You.

Desvantagens:

There are certain process group not available in aPriori to cost such as Hydraulic Hoses, Black Box, Valves, Assembly/welding tooling etc. These processes are highly used in industries and would be essential to have in aPriori expertise.

aPriori comments

Comentários: It's a good upfront design for cost tool. In addition, it's a reasonable should cost & supplier quote analysis tool. The challenge from a team member buy-in standpoint is that we have a few big wins and more cases where we didn't get useful results from aPriori analysis. From an overall perspective, the big wins probably justify the cases where it didn't work out so well, but team members who spent a lot of time & effort without good results get a negative view of aPriori and its capabilities.

Vantagens:

Upfront ability to determine costing during the design phase. Objective & detailed analysis of component cost, including optimal processing.

Desvantagens:

In some cases the recommendations from aPriori of diametrically opposed to what we find in our supply base. For example, recommending ductile cast iron over gray cast iron on a pound for pound cost base. We don't have any evidence from our supply base that this is true. This case discouraged use of aPriori for several key team members.

Expert product management tool with focus Engineering

Comentários: precise material cost simulations based on 3D CAD models, manufacturing and assembly simulations of more complex assemblies need higher amount of manual adjustment, useful out-of-the-box reports and interfaces with MS Office 365, PLM and ERP

Vantagens:

professional expert software with interesting and useful reverse/cost engineering features and interfaces for diverse standard ERP and PLM software, knowledge database and training documentation

Desvantagens:

maintenance, training and customization needs higher amount of (external) expertise and resources

3D model engine makes cost analysis faster

Comentários: Fast and easy to use, even for design engineers or buyers. When a cost-structure is well established, it can provide the estimation for all simple mechanical components. The bulk-costing is powerful if well configured.

Vantagens:

The 3D model engine can load Step parts/assemblies in seconds, recognizing the manufacturing features such as bending/drilling/machining . This makes the cost estimation automatic and much easier, comparing to other similar software on the market.

Desvantagens:

The annual subscription price is not easy to digest, even for large companies. We had to prepare a good business case to get the approval of purchase.

AGILE COSTING for this modern Technology World- Am Loving it!

Vantagens:

1.Design to Cost Feature- Helps the Design Engineers to know where the cycle time is most and what need to be alter to make the machining cost optimize 2.Process set up Options, helps the Cost engineer to alter or override the feed/speed rate for the machines as per the supplier circumstances to challenge the current price with supplier 3.Interactive Reporting-Helps the reader to understand the important cost drivers and the cost components

Desvantagens:

1.Enhancement required in few Process group such as "Investment Casting", "Powder Metal" which currently is the Basic where we need more Process setup options

Definitely a tool you need in your tool kit

Comentários: As a customer, our aPriori representatives have been very helpful and quick to respond. Coming from a different software, I have found aPriori is easy to use and intuitive.

Vantagens:

I like how aPriori is easy to use and the interface is friendly. Running scenarios is quick and easy and I like the built in feature where aPriori can analyze and figure out the proper machining for you if you don’t know what would be used.

Desvantagens:

At least for my application, I would like more customization on changing which holes/features are exempt from certain processes (i.e. the part is anodized everywhere except certain holes etc).

General Review

Vantagens:

The variety of tools that’s offered. Having the cloud software is very helpful for cross functional groups

Desvantagens:

Sometimes lots of changes need to be made and they are not always intuitive

aPriori - Innovation to Cost

Comentários: Fantastic. This is a tool that has no market competitors from a costing and Design for Cost Assessment

Vantagens:

The tool is an innovation and reduces unwanted Non Value Adds while doing costing. The innovation level aPriori has achieved is unparalleled in the market

Desvantagens:

The material cost database can be refreshed more frequently given the fluctuations in material price.

aPriori to add to and simulate your digital thread.

Vantagens:

The detail and precision of the aPriori digital model is amazing, how you can create a digital twin of a factory floor. And then leverage that with users around the world.

Desvantagens:

This isn’t about aPriori, but one of the most difficult things I’ve noticed about implementing aPriori is the change needed in the business to be able to really get maximum value from the calculations.

aPriori's ability to be calibrated and customized to our specific uses allows us to fill in the gaps

Vantagens:

We especially like and use the Cost Model Workbench for the ability to create User Guided models which are not available as well as models we can use when 3D files are not available. One business area we have been able to work on is identifying gaps where we could not model costs in the past. Now we can build cost models to do those. This provides extra resources in providing target costs and is useful in supplier discussions. I am continually impressed with all the features aPriori allows and has. The more you know...the more you can do. This is especially true within Cost Model Workbench and User Guided cost models. We are creating more and more capability by leveraging what we know along with the aPriori's ability to let us code or own logic.

Desvantagens:

Due to the intense ability to customize things, incorporating updates from aPrioir is a bit of an exercise.

Costing tool with advanced features and reliable cost models...!!

Comentários: Overall experience with apriori is very good, its very advanced costing tool and every-time whenever i go through their helping doc. i always learned new way of seeing the things.I strongly recommend aPriori to all manufacturers specially OEM's in order to have excellent understanding related with Major cost drivers in product costing and management

Vantagens:

aPriori costing tool gives us leverage to do the costing with CAD model itself. Well-designed , easy to use interface and updated data for different regions help us to validate all cost drivers and refined our should cost as per the actual practice. Cost models are built with reliable logics and can be used as explanation for negotiation with suppliers.

Desvantagens:

Some of the cost models like milling,electroplating etc need to be reviewed and refined with updated logics and parameters. Super finishing processes like lapping, honing etc. need to be added.

Excellent Costing Tool

Comentários: The business as usual is easier and faster with this tool. I just have to check and correct if I have other preferences in terms of process routing and that's it!

Vantagens:

The support that the software is giving to the Cost Engineers is one of the most important parts of our daily work. It's easy to use, easy to understand the processes and easy to make changes in a great diversity of commodities.

Desvantagens:

There are some processes that are not shown in the customizable routing.

aPriori for me

Comentários: I am very happy with the boost of efficiency from aPriori.

Vantagens:

I really like the ability to run multiple instances that allows me to cost many parts at once.

Desvantagens:

Lots of crashing when using the batch costing macro, aPriori could not find the solution

Comentários: Hitting project targets up front, and getting better visibility to cost throughout the organization.

Vantagens:

Ease of use, with multiple out of the box processes for startup of cost modeling.

Desvantagens:

The upgrade process is a bit antiquated. I wish it were more like a Windows upgrade.

Desvantagens:

Reporting can be advanced to reduce further more complexities.

Value for money!

Comentários: Cost avoidance and estimation. DFMA reports very useful for Purchasing for their negotiations.

Vantagens:

Process based costing, GCD's, VPE's give the user many options on how best to manufacture a part. Also like the dynamic integration with Creo. Looking forward to use the capacity analysis option.

Desvantagens:

DFMA on Extrusion process for some complex geometries is limited.

Great tool! Needs more material availability

Vantagens:

Easy to use, provides great cost intelligence and tools to negotiate

Sometimes it won´t identify certain geometries that can help identify certain machining processes

Vantagens:

We were able to customize the software to meet all of our quoting requirements.

The purchase price was expensive; however, the end result was a software package that performs very well.

Best way to know cost of new and production products

Excellent Customer Support

Comentários: I work with server setup and administration. Tool installation is simple and straight forward. Any problem or doubts you might have are quickly answered by the support team.
My overall experience with aPriori has been really great. They have a very talented workforce and the Customer Support is EXCELLENT.

Vantagens:

This is a great tool for costing parts and tools. Great integration with other CAD tools.

Desvantagens:

You need a license for most options and for each user.
